No cats, no airtubes, traight pipe, check engine light???

Guys, if you could help me out here? If I were to take out my dual cats with airtubes and run a straight pipe, would my check engine light come on because the airtubes wouldnt be there or would it be ok.

Also, would I notice a loss in my low end or is it only noticable on the dyno? And how big of a gain or loss in both low end and high end? Can you feel the difference driving?

Thanks in adavance guys.

I had mine taken off and found that they had been gutted by the previous owner. My car ran fine the whole time. I'm not sure how it affects the sensors, but I didn't have any problems.

Hey,
I took off my muffler back 2 months ago. You do lose a great deal in fuel milage sense your O2 sensor is not reading right. Boy did I feel the power gain.
My point is taking off the cats is like gaining power and losing it. I took off my cat 2 weeks ago to see how it sounded and felt. Low end will be lost cause there is no pressure to equalize your engine. High end however you can feel, but since no average joe uses the highway like a ****ing a Nascar driver keeping your cats on wouldn't be a bad idea.
You said you have high flows..... there shouldn't be a problem then. Try getting power somewhere else besides the exhaust. Or Take off your mufflers and have your exhaust dump out right before your rear wheels.
Just my thoughts.......
Erik

What type of Cat do I have.. Someone told me I have a high flow and would be pointless to cut it off.

92 Camaro 305 TBI. Everything stock so far except a shift kit.

Future mods. Spark plug wires and plugs, tint, Cutting off cat and new 3inch pipes. Maybe putting 2 glass paks for effect. any other advise on getting to 300+ HP would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for the advice guys. The reason I am thinking of taking out the cats is because of clearance problems. Since the SPOHN subframe connectors go over the cats to the crossmember, and the cats are oversized to begin with. I guess maybe I will have to dish out more money and maybe replace my cats with either stock ones or smaller size high flows like Random Techs. But we will see. Thanks again.
