ok...heres my problem, ...car i low, hit a bump, AIR tube leading to the cat is crimped. the bracket that holds the air tube on is a sob to get to ...just behind and below the pass side valve cover. so either i can a.) pay someone to route a new tube or b.) cut the crimp out and replace that segment with a rubber tube. which should i do? does the AIR tube conduct heat tha far back? or can i go with option c.) and crimp the inlet tube on the gutted cat and disconnect the tube leading out the smog box ...the one that connects to the air tube going to the cat. so any insite here people?
I know that bracket you're talking about. It is insane. You can get some rubber hose that'll work to bridge the gap where you cut the kink out. I wouldn't expect any problems from it. The only thing I could see going wrong would be some rattling or such if the rubber section gives too much flex to the system. Keeping it short should eliminate that though. I'd go the rubber route. Good luck.
eh i took a sazall under there, cut the crimp out and put hose there, id ditch the air stuff but taking the AIR pump off emeans ditching the a/c....the a/c compressor or whatever is attatched to the air pump. plus the headers i have , have the air tubes, and if i ditched the air pump id have to take the headers off and get the air tubes cut off, all in all, its not worth it, besides, i wouldnt see that much --if any--- hp gain by doing that.. not worth the trouble to me honestly...

i did this too but i needed a diffrent belt size because i have the aluminum pulleys but the smog boltr right off. also that bolt is not that hard to get if you have a long enough tool!!! i got mine off no problems the last bolt on the manifold is tough though cause you have that big plastic box back there on the firewall.
