Why does SLP say they include a "Y pipe" with their headers?
SLP says that their headers come with a "y pipe." I just recieved my headers today and there is no "y pipe" in there.... included are the pipes that connect TO THE y pipe, but no actual "y pipe." Why do they say that when they really mean something else? Or am I just confused...

The SLP's I got for my truck came with a "y pipe." Not sure about any other apps.
BTW- One thing about the SLP's that I got doesn't seem right. They relocated the boss for the O2 sensor from the joint in the 'y pipe' to the header for the left bank. Wouldn't this give an incomplete/inaccurate reading???

The O2 sensor has to reach 600° F before it is operational. For this reason it should me mounted as close as possible to the exhaust port. If it were mounted at the 'y', it would never reach operating temperature.
To answer your next question: yes it would make sense to have an O2 sensor mounted on each bank, if the ECM could use the bank to bank differentiation(my BIG word for this week). But, because our ECM's can't adjust fuel trim differently per cylinder banks, there is no need for a second sensor.
The ultimate setup would be to have one sensor per cylinder(and you thought you had a rat's nest of cables now?). And an ECM that could do individual cylider fuel trim. But with $700 extra worth of sensor's(and 7 more sensors that might fail and need replacing) you can probably see why GM didn't go this route

The SLP headers come with a y-pipe but you need the conector pipe to the cat. I just got mine from summit 1 month ago. Had to order the connector pipe and installation kit extra but the y-pipe was there. You should call who you ordered it from they left it out of the order.
I don't think the ones for dual cat cars come with a Y pipe. I could be wrong though.

All SLP headers come with Y-pipes, (kinda justifies their high price). The dual cat setup gets you a modified Y-pipe designed to feed into 2 cats.

Ya, you get the pipes thst connect to the cats, but not the actual y-pipe which is after the cats

Unless you changed your rear end, you should have a 3.27 ratio 9-bolt, not a 3.23 ratio 10-bolt.
And yes, the SLP y-pipe only goes to the cats, not after the cats, on dual-cat models. You're supposed to re-use your stock pipe or make up a custom one like i did. I think they did that because people change the cats and they end up being different size lengths. If they provided the pipe it wouldnt fit if you have other than stock cats.
And yes, they do provide a y-pipe, and its a better design than Edelcrocks.
Congrats on purchasing the best headers for your car.
