What Header Brand fits the best with no problems?
car is a 92 305 tbi...
i really really really do not want to cut, grind, wedge, fabricate, or anything to make these fit. i'm not a moron when it comes to cars, and i have installed headers on a 93 TBI truck and my 86 IROC. i currently have a pair of Flow-Techs in my Garage but i need to stay smog-legal in CA.
so what are the lest problematic headers to intsall?
Eddlecrock?
SL(overpriced)P?
Hook(everyone has them)er?
Hed(dont know enough about them)man?

I have hedman w/ air tubes they were not too bad to install they will also fit angle plug heads if you ever decide to put a set on. I am happy with them but I never had hooker to compare them to
im running edelbrocks i bought used and sent for coating. I cut the Air tubes off completly and welded them shut. You can see the little nubs in the pics i attached of them. But luckly NJ doesnt have open hood inspections like CA.
Usually the passenger side is harder than the drivers side, but i already have the A/C and heater crap away so that side is no problem. The drivers side was a pain due to the steering .... but manageable.
I heard good things about hookers and headmans (both come with a y-pipe) Im not sure what other brands have a y-pipe, but a decent shop should be able to make you one fairly easily. SLP's are nice, but I think they are expensive and the power of a stock TBI car doesnt really need those.

My hooker 2055's fit real good but I guess they would be ruled out because I opened up the ball joint where the y-pipe hits the collector a little bit.

I have the Hedman's on my IROC. Mine were the smog legal headers, but somehow the AIR tubes magically disappeared
The fit very well. But if you're planning on keeping AC, you're going to have to do some SIMPLE fabricating to get the bracket to work with the headers...not hard at all.
Do a search in the EXHAUST forum for "Hedman headers install"
And you should find my pretty detailed post.

all the major brands of headers seem to fit pretty good and have about eh same level of performance benefit. what makes the difference is a good y-pipe. slp and edelbrock are teh best at that. teh hedman/flowtech/hooker y-pipes neck down a lot and take away a good amount of teh flow you are trying to get. they are still a large improvement over stock, but for a few more bucks you can get the job doen with out any compromise.

ive got the flowtech's on my 91 firebird, driverside was easy, but passengerside had to have the motor mount broken loose just a bit and raise the motor just a few inches, after that it slid right in place.i got my headers at jegs, they were 106.00 after tax and shipping.
I have full length headmans. The only problems that I had was I had to jack the motor up off of the motor mounts about 4 inches to slide them in. You will probably have to take off your starter too. Here is a word of advice...get the bottom of the car pretty high off the ground (ramps with 2x4's under the legs, tall STABLE jackstands, ect.) and slide the headers in from the bottom!!! This will make your life much easier installing the headmans at least. Also mine are not smog legal so I didn't have to worry about air tubes or anything, but they shouldn't be that big of a problem. With full lengths the collector ends up pretty close to the subframe on the drivers side. I think that they are probably pretty rare among 3rd gens because of the difficulty of instal and avalibility of aftermarket systems. I guess if I could go back I would do shorties with dynomax pipes. But my way was really cheap and it sounds gooood. Good luck!
