Could I mount a cutout directly after my cat?
I did a search for this answer before I posted, but couldnt find the answer...
Anyways, I have a catco cat thats universal, I believe only 14". I then have a 3" pipe that extends it out to the catback. This is just about perfect room for a cutout, but I dont know if I could put one there. Since I have to angle it down, would it kill ground clearance? Also, at stop lights would fumes come up and kill me or my passenger because its directly under the seats?
Any help would be great!
Thanks

Who says you have to angle it down? i put mine there, but it's not facing down, its facing out towards the passenger side door.
As for your second question, just dont cruise with the windows up, cause you will get light headed, especially in stop and go traffic. i remember driving home formt eh track one night with the cutout still open and all the shifter boots gone so that i could actually see my trans. while driving. The fumes through stop and go traffic just about knocked me out.

Umm, yeah. The fumes debate has been going on for a while. I drove my car for a long time with nothing after the cat when I was a poor highschool student. Now that I'm a poor college student, I have flows with a cut-out (that's open half the time). I've seen no adverse affects, but there was never an exhaust smell in my car. If you have cab-leaks, then maybe it's a problem.
My cutout points toward the pass door, too. It's the lowest part on my exhaust system, but the thing cost me like $40. If I have to replace it, its not that big of a deal. It hits the ground every once in a while.

i've got mine installed after the cat, and just before the rear axle. there's actually the perfect sized construction in the undercarriage that the cutout fits perfectly aimed right at the back of the passenger door. i've had it open since i got it (early july) and have never had any fumes problems.

Folks, I got nothing against cut-outs, but c'mon. If you're going to use one, at least put it well away from where you'll be sitting. That way the CO will be diluted or dissipated before it finds a way into the cabin(and there's lots of them) that you didn't think of. Our cars are not as airtight as some folks think they are.
