manifold changing exhaust tone?

is it true that aftermarket intake manifolds can change the tone of an exhaust? check my sig for my mods, im about to install the edelbrock aluminum intake in the next few days. my current manifold has a serious gasket leak, and my exhaust pops and crackles alot after decelerating from WOT. my flowmaster sounds all right, not really loud, and i hope this opens it up. anyone else notice any sound change after changing manifolds? thanks

why not just put headers on. It will be even louder out the muffler.

i plan on getting headers, but not anytime really soon, i wanna put some cash together and get some really solid ones. everyone here seems to believe slp makes a good header, and that edelbrocks TES headers are junk, does anyone have any other suggestions?
