Lo3 headers?
Lo3 headers?
Lo3 headers, no A.I.R. hookup?
i am looking to buy a set of headers, and i was considering the Flowtech camaro and firebird headers with y pipe. From what i can see, there is no A.I.R. hook-up. I know that the edelbrock tes headers have the AIR. Will i be able to use the Flowtech headers, and a catalytic converter without an AIR hookup and still pass Pa emmissions? Also will the lack of an AIR hookup cause the computer not to funtion properly?
Here's the link for the flowtech headers:

Sounds like A.I.R. to me, even though it is neither specifically mentioned nor pictured.
Whether you can pass w/o A.I.R. to the headers is dependant upon whether or not they open the hood. If "yes", and they know what to look for, the answer is "no".
If "no", they don't open the hood, A.I.R. to the cat still helps lower sniffer counts. So, it's a good idea to keep it going there.

It consists of an air pump that is tied into your engine belts. The pump sends air through a diverter to either your exhaust manifolds or catalytic converter. The diverter is controlled by the ECM.
isn't the entire purpose of the AIR just to heat the catalytic converter. I plan on ordering the flowtech headers now- should i order a cat without the AIR hookup - and i guess that i will need to remove the smog pump now that i am no longer using the AIR-

The purpose of A.I.R. is to provide excess oxygen so any unburnt hydrocarbons will be reacted and thereby reduce undesired emissions. It is injected in the manifolds when the engine is cold and into the cat when it is warmed up so that it will be in the place where it can react the most effeciently. Another reason to inject it into the cat when the engine is warm is so that it doesn't interfere with the O2 sensor operation.
The replacement cats I've seen have the A.I.R. tube with a cap on it. If you need to hook it up, pop off the cap and hook it up. If not, leave the cap on.
Perhaps one of us misunderstood, but the header link you posted leaves me to believe those headers will come with A.I.R. tubes.
For the sake of passing a sniffer test, you would be best advised to keep the A.I.R. system on the cat, at least. On the manifolds/headers is for the sake of visual only.

There is a diverter valve above the A.I.R. pump with outlets to the manifolds and to the cat. It doesn't reduce performance.
