I built a system on my 1988 Firebird
that has long headers and 2.5" true duals.
It is a welded setup, using 2.5" mandrel bends and straight sections. The crossember
was notched (flanges flatened) so the pipes
pass under with maximum ground clearance.
The left pipe crosses over to the right behind the trans. Then both pipes follow the stock path back and over the axle. Two turbo
mufflers (14X4.5")are mounted behind the axle and the twin tail pipes exit out the back on the drivers side. This system ran the same ET
and 1/2 mph faster in the 1/4 then open exhaust and its quieter than most aftermarket
stuff.

Ground clearance on my car from the lowest point of the header to the pavement is 2 3/16". I lowered my car about 2" from stock height long before I put the headers on.I had to raise the car about 3/4" just for a bit more clearance. I just took pics this weekend on a new roll.I should have them developed this week sometime then I'll post a couple pics.
