Burning Gaskets ???

Burning Gaskets ???

Hi, anybody knows why i keep burning collector gaskets ? The last one I put lasted 4 days ! Engine specs in sig.
Any input is welcome
This may be a stupid question but i'm new to the hi-perf/F-Body world.

I saw some that had a copper type of reinforcement around the inside diameter. Can't remember the name but a decent speed shop should be able to provide you with a pair.

I have the same problem. Those cardboard gaskets are a joke

But, is it possible that the fuel mixture causes that (too rich or too lean) ???

You are right, a lean mixture will exacerbate the problem because it makes the engine and exhaust run hotter. But those cardboard collector gaskets are about the dumbest things I've ever seen.

A rich mixture would probably make the system run cooler but it would still be far too hot for a cardboard gasket to cope with.

A rich condition will heat up the headers due to the excess fuel burning in the headers themselves......
