SLP coated Headers and Catback
Does anyone here have SLP coated Headers or SLP catback? I'm trying to decide on what to get for an '87 Camaro Z28 305 TPI with no mods. I'm pretty sure I want the SLP headers, but I can't decide between SLP catback or Hooker Header catback. Someone told me the SLP headers were poor quality and 'sucked'. Anyone have any suggestions or comments? Thanks

Hey, do you know the difference between Aluminized Steel and Stainless Steel? Can the aluminized steel rust? I was wondering about this since the SLP catback is Stainless and the Hooker is Aluminized.

What would you get, SLP or Hooker Header catback? Do you have catback, if you do, what brand is it and how do you like it?

Hg,
I have the SLP coated headers (they are all stainless steal) and they are great. The craftsmanship and quality is unmatched, and many people on this board will agree. They are expensive, but probably well worth your while since they should remain 100% intact forever.
I don't have the SLP catback, but I have heard a lot about it. It exits the car in a single exhaust tip, so if you want something that retains the "dual exhaust look" the SLP cat-back is not for you. I personally would not get it for that reason alone. In addition, the SLP catback is rather quiet. It does produce good power, comparable to certain others, but doesn't give you a loud muscle car rumble.
I would go with the Hooker Catback. The differences in power between the SLP and Hooker would be minimal at most, but the Hooker will retain the dual exhaust look and give you a sound that few could say they don't like.

I have both the Headers & Catback Exhaust. The quality and sound is great and not to loud.

A little misinformation from the previous
post, fact " the exhaust exits on the Driver side with TWO 2 1/2 dia pipes".

Another thing I've been worried about is that I heard someone talking about how their headers started glowing at like 2K or so RPM and he wasn't driving it, it was at idle. I'm afraid that if I get headers it could go outta control like that. What do you guys think? My car runs GREAT. I got it in August and have tuned it up. Someone put sugar in his tank and he said he had it rebuilt. I don't know if it was completely rebuilt or just taken apart and cleaned, but there is NO oil burning AT ALL, PERIOD since day one. If I rev it high it kinda sounds like it's backfiring sometimes. Isn't that what fuel burning in the exhaust is? Let me know what you guys thinkm, cause I've been thinking twice about headers lately. Thanks.
