Question on Cat and Cat-back system?
Well first off I have an 86 IROC-Z w/305 (only one cat). It is only my summer car so cost is NOT an issue. I want to get the Borla cat-back system. Now will any high flow cat just fit right on to the Borla stuff?? Are they different size pipe ends? (sorry I dont know alot about this stuff)? Oh and what is the best Hi-flow cat? Stainless steel cat is what I am after as well. I also want to get the Spohn SubFrame connectors so would this interfer at all with the exhaust system planned? Thanks for any reply's....
well i think your exaust is 3", im not sure tho, i just got a catflow cat for 55$, its stainless, im installin it today, if you order the right parts they should just bolt right up

The y-pipe on my car was 3" up to the cat, and then it went to 2 1/2" or 2 1/4" (I don't remember which) for the cat back part.
Although they do have the rear section (muffler back) in both the Jeg's and Summit catalogs, they also have the catback system. The catback from Jeg's is $525.99 and p/n: 157-14888. In Summit it sells for $525.95 and is p/n: BOR-14888. This system has four interchangable plates to adjust the sound and performance levels. Borla makes good stuff, but I have heard many reports that this kit is very poorly made. Usually it comes about 6" shorter than it should be and I have also heard that the tailpipes don't usually line up correctly. For our cars, I would go with Flowmaster, but that is my opinion. It would save you alot of hassle, especially if you are new at this.
As far as Cats go, Random Tech and Catco both make good cats. Summit carries Catco and they have quite a few direct fit cats that are direct bolt ons for some cars. That is what I got and it has been great. Random Tech has good cats, but you will pay almost double ($250+) for one of theirs. Obviously you can get a cat for cheaper if you don't get a direct fit cat, but the direct fit ones will save time and energy. Both of those companies use stainless steel for their cats also. Hope that helps a bit.
