Question on removing old exhaust

Question on removing old exhaust

well its pretty new, not rusted, it was put on with clamps, how do i pull the pieces apart, they rotate, but cant get them out

I just had to do that when I put my headers on. What I did was just keep rotating them and pulling at the same time (very tiring) and spray a bunch of WD-40 up in the connection to provide a little lubrication. Eventually they should come free. It'll just take some work.

ok, is ot ok to hammer on the muffeler, like with a wooden block, or will that break something

If it is a Flowmaster muffler, you could probably bang it a little bit, but I wouldn't be hitting too hard or too much. All that is inside a Flowmaster muffler are welded in plates to direct flow and sound. Question: Why do you need to bang on the muffler anyway? Just curious.

cut some expansion slits in the pipe with a cut off wheel.
