Different headers for vortec heads?
I'm just wondering if I'll need a different set of headers for vortec heads as opposed to the stock heads. I've heard that the vortecs have the header ports on a different angle than stock?

I think some people have had problems with one of the spark plugs, or the wire. The spark plugs on Vortecs are closer to the exhaust valve. With big tube headers, like 1 3/4", the spark plug is pretty close to touching.
the ones that are a pain for me is the four middle cylinders....especially on the driver sides.....you have to go from the from of the header to get to them...i have pro top line heads and slp 1 3/4 headers

I ran my old 305 with Hedman Shorties, then swapped out to a 383 with Vortec's. I could not tell any different in head configuration, as far as exhaust ports. If there is a difference, it was too slight for me to notice.

Same with me. My L98 heads were a different angle than the Vortecs but not too much of a difference. All my spark plugs and boots clear my Hedman 1 5/8" headers with plenty of room.

Vortec heads
When I ordered my Edelbrock headers for Vortec heads they fit just fine...Where the angle is different is the intake and manifold bolts. If you buy a socket with a hex end on it you will be able to put the socket on the plug and take a wrench to the end of the socket and tighten or make it lose. Its not realy comfy but it gets the job done without getting into those headers.
