Removing Smog & A.I.R ( Emmisions? )

I am putting in a 350 T.P.I engine in my camaro. I have all ready remvoed th enite heating system from the car & I am thinking about removing the smog pump & A.I.R as well... How much worse will the car be on emmisions, becuase I knwo here in Ontario the emmisions testing is pretty brutal. But I do know, that if you change the engine in the car to different then stock, u can run the car under modified vehicle & u have higherlimits to play with?

Has anyone done this, do u notice a gain in HP?

you wont notice a gain in HP. it basically just cleans up the engine bay.

not sure about how you will do with emissions testing though.

well i gained something..

removed the smog pump, and a.i.r stuff, 180 stat, a/c delete at the same time.
with those mods i beat my friend three times in a row, which he use to beat me by alittle less than a half a car...

it seems to have more top end now or at least better response... and it definitely helps to clean up the engine bay...

the only gains i could realistically see you having other than the appearance is maybe the .5hp that you gain by not having to drive the smog pump

it could have possibly been the weight savings from removing the a/c, depending on how much of it was taken out. or the t-stat could have added a couple ponies...who knows. so many things with thirdgens are hit or miss, could be anything, but i am still doubtful that it had to do with the smog pump delete.

I woulnt think that its worth the pain of removing it. Time better spent earning money to buy stuff that will get you hp
