I would go with a single borla race muffler if you want an easy solution that will flow really well (borla XR-1 shootout muffler is THE HIGHEST flowing muffler made). I say an easy solution becaus I am going with 2 1/2" true dual exhaust with headers to cats to borla XR-1 sportsmans and exiting out each side, in front of the rear tires. I have been planning this for a month and a half, have found exhaust shops that will do it (for $1500, yeah right), have decided to do it myself, bought a bunch of mandrel u-bends from summit, and hopefully will get in on this weekend.
I will cut my ground clearance in half (maybe have even less), and it will be a pain to do.

So easy solutions--y-pipe, single exhaust, single borla race muffler
--mufflex 3" catback with spin tech race muffler (I like spin tech and a lot of other people do, too. Check out their site, www.spintechmufflers.com). They make up to a 4" catback system for our cars, but that's way too much for a 305 (I have a 305 too).

If you opt for flowmaster, get the 30 series. It is quieter, but it flows really well, whereas the 40 series is very popular, very loud (I hate the sound--it drones), and flows pretty badly if you want performance.

Flowmaster 40 series flows badly??? WTF are you smokin?? Flows badly compared to what? Straight pipe (aka. Borla XR-1 mufflers or otherwise known as 'glass packs'). Those XR-1s are nothing but an expensive glass pack and that is exactly what they sound like - crap, IMO.

The Flowmaster crossflow muffler (the one that has dual outlets) is an 80 series. I have one and it is pretty loud. It does drone a bit like most Flowmasters do, but I, and everyone I know, loves the way they sound on every car that has them - including mine.

And let me say this again:

Get a Flowmaster. They will support the most power of any catback system out there and everyone I know loves the way they sound. For an example, go look at a Really fast car, and you will see a Flowmaster.

I have a dual outlet crossflow flowmaster, what series is it? The thing was a christmas present and I don't know what it is.

By the way, it sounds great, especially without a cat!

he wants to get power, not loose it, don't get a flowmaster if u want to make every bit of HP possible. flowmaster's flow like crap. if u don't believe me look inside of one, compared to ANY resonator.

alright, I dont like flowmasters anyways, im more of a borla fan. But if i run true dual with high flow cats and no mufflers, wouldnt the gain in hp be worth the loss in low end torque?

Maybe you're thinking of the XR-1 bullet mufflers, as they look just like glasspacks. I don't know anything about them. I do know that the XR-1 Shootout (completely different looking) is the highest flowing muffler made (I think it was Hot Rod magazine that did the test.) The XR-1 Sportsman doesn't flow quite as much, but it is quieter. Even so, I'm putting extra insulation under my carpet.

the flowmaster 40 series flows great. I have heard nothing but great things about them and the 40 series i heard was flowing NICELY. if u buy a borla all u are doing is payin a lot for a name. Flowmaster sounds better and is most likely cheaper.
