Slp headers hitting on the passener side.

I am having a shop install SLP headers on my TA and they are having a hard time with the headers hitting on the passenger side on the body. Has anyone else had this problem or is it just a freak thing. I mentioned the motor mounts and the mechanic said he check them and there were fine. Also if they can't get them clear of the body then they are going to ripe them off, put the stock manifold back on and charge me for nothing. I really need some suggestions. I mentioned denting them so hopefully that works. I will find out tommorow.

off all of the (probly hundreds) of posts i have read about SLP headers not fitting...yours are teh FIRST that hit on the passenger's side. are you sure that they told you the correct side? that is rare to say the least.

double check with them...make sure it's not the driver's side at the steering shaft.

I agree with Z28 Boy. I only had minor clearance issues on the driver's side. The passenger side dropped right in from the top and has LOTS of room. Check to see if he is talking about the correct side... And if it does turn out to be the driver's side, do a search on the subject - there are a few solutions.

Sorry it took so long to respond.

After a week of waiting they got them on. It was the passenger side that was hitting. They called me and had me look at it. I will say one thing they sound awesome. I am very pleased with the results and I must say I did notice more power right away. So the wait was worth it.

So where exactly was the problem? Did they get them to fit correctly? Like the others above, I didn't have any passenger side problems with mine, and can't see where any might arise.

The problem was two of the tubes where hitting the inside fender wall and it was so snug that they couldn't tighten the headers down. They ended up denting the inner fender wall about an inch. I know the car was in a wreck before I got it but supposedly it was fixed after this I am beginning to wonder. I have done searches on the SLP headers on this board and everyone that has clearance issues it is always on the drivers side. Mine are close to the steering shaft but they do clear.
