Open headers hurt heads?

Will running open headers to the track hurt anything? I just finished putting the car back togather for the race this Wed and I want to run open headers. Its about a 30 min. drive at 50 mph. It will be about 45-60 degrees out side. They are dynomax shorties that stop at the bottom of the oil pan and point straight down.

Thanks

-Terry-

P.S. I am looking for that mid 13 time slip!!!

I heard somewhere that if you run with open headers, cold air can go up through the headers whe the car is off and crack the valves. I am pretty sure this is a myth though.

I believe on shorty headers it could be possible, but unlikely.

If that was the case there would be a lot of cracked valves at the fall racing events.
