Largest Headers?
What iks the largest header to fit the thirdgens?
Looking for 1 7/8" primaries and 3 1/2" collector if possible.
Hooker makes a set, but I called them yesterday and they said I'd have to run a powerglide, move my engine to the right, and cut into the crossmember. I won't run a powerglide and they don't have any for the 400/350 combination.
Anyone else know of any companies that make headers this size for our cars?

Why do you need 1 7/8 inch primaries? The Hooker 2210 1 3/4" primaries are adequate for nearly any small block.
Well, if this is going on a motor that runs the times in your sig, I would say dont do it. It will hurt more than help.
If by chance you have something that needs that big of headers(kind of doubtful) then hedman makes some 1 7/8", and some 2" primaried headers. I dont know what the collector is but I believe it is an adjustable race style collector. They are called hedman huslers.

Thanks, I'll try giving hedman headers a call. I don't mind doing minor modifications, but having to change by transmission won't help.
The engine I'll be running is the same as a local friend, and coworker. His car recently ran 9.40s in a 3500lb car @ 15lbs of intercooled boost. It's now been swapped to 22lbs of boost, as well as reduced weight. He's expecting 8.80s.
This is the same engine I'll be running except in a lighter car. He's running 1 7/8 headers, so I was trying to find some that I'll need as well.
While 1 3/4 heads are great headers, from what I've read they are pretty good up to around 650 or so horsepower, while his car is probably around 850+ to the rear wheels.
I'm just trying to get some ideas, headers aren't my main concern, was just trying to find out what options I had when the time comes.
Thanks.

What are the specs on this motor? That will be a heck of a change from 14.2's. How is the rest of your car setup, because if it is stock, I could see it tearing its self up real quick. You are going need a built tranny *cough* th400 *cough* and a strong rear end(9" or 12 bolt). I also hope you have subframe connectors and a good suspension.

Ben,
Yes, the rearend has alrady been purchased, and next is the spohn TQ arm / Crossmember, turbo 400, new driveshaft, and the rest of the suspension additions.
The engine is 400 with an ATI D1R on it.

Oh yea,
The TPI parts are all mine, I buy and sell TPI units. Polishing, Powdercoating, and cleaning them up and such. So, those were some that I had on the shelves, just took the picture for fun.

A friend of mine runs a 427 EFI smallblock & has the Hooker 2210s on it. BTW, its rated at over 700hp & runs 9.50s all day, NA. His car was on the cover of GMHP last year.

Ricktpi, If I have to, I may go that route. But I still think there will be more power gained from running the larger header.

Ben, I agree. I see no reason to hold back power if I'm looking to buy the headers. If I already had the 2210s, I would go that route.
