A word of advise is I'd use a band clamp for the over axle pipe. I've had mine on from a reg clamp and crimped it together and when i wanted it to come apart it wouldnt

That bronze colored pipe at the bottom of pic #5 (I think), can you buy that seperately???

I got my hooker exhaust off of a total in a junk yard and it was missing that pipe. I got the thing for free and it was out of the box new. The guy had it on for three days, prior to wrapping his '89 around a tree. No pipe was ever discovered that connected the cat to the over-the-axle pipe.

Remenber to polish the two exhaust pipes from the muffler before installing. It make the job thar much easier and they will look good.

DJP87Z28: what should i use to polish those tips?

Berlinetta00: i think thats the intermediate pipe your talking about, its 3 inches; umm you might be able to but one from summit racing or jegs; also maybe try running a search to find out what other places might have it.

Mkos1980: thanks i guess i can buy one from any parts store right?

ebmiller88: nope, just spending my saved money from a few years ; hey its only money right

89blackGTA: i actually made a video of my car running the semi open manifolds i think i might post it.

Mitch DoGG: thanks man!

MetalliCamaroRS: very glad i got them coated, hmmm maybe a week or two they will be in, i think i should get the spohn sfc's in before i put my new exhaust in.

LastViceRS: hows the install going?

Use a fine grain sandpaper to get the just mill rolled crap off and go from there. steel wool and polish should do the trick, and I only did the pipes to the bend for the muffer.

I think your going to like this system.

MdFormula350,
I just pretty much finished my SLP install this evening. Other than a few snags, it went pretty well overall.
As far as fit and finish, I'm very happy with them. After removing the AIR system (which I kept on the car) and plugs/wires, I unbolted the motor mounts and jacked the engine up about 1-1/2 inches. The driver side header slipped in with a little wiggling. The passenger side practically fell in. They bolted up with no trouble, and the Y-pipe fit perfectly.
It took longer than I anticipated, and I ran into a few annoying and time consuming little problems, but as I said before - I'm very satisfied with them. Hope your experience is as good as mine.

DJP87Z28,

I still haven't gotten mine to look that good. I spent a little while on them with some sandpaper, but got sick of it and quit. I guess I just don't have the patience for good looking pipes...

I hope you are not doing the whole pipe, only took me about a 1/2 hr
to do both. Just do whats is visible under car. Give it another try.

Ha! Don't worry, I'm not doing the whole pipe. Sure would look purdy though! I actually only spent about ten minutes on it. I had a few dents, dimples, etc in the metal what the sandpaper wasn't getting into. Guess I was really lacking in motivation that day. If only it wasn't already feeling so hot outside, i'd give it another go.

Don't worry, I'll get back to it soon!

87 B4Z,
Haven't hit it with the dremel yet, but will make sure to do that.

Nice looking stuff! You gotta start her up with open headers before you bolt up the pipe/muffler! Good Luck. -89IRO
