The grass in the pic is about 4 inches tall. Do you plan to drive your car in the super cross or Hazard County? I would rather have a couple of scrapes here and there on the muff's than having hot mufflers kissing my gas tank.

Probably not. If Flowmasters were thinner like standard turbo muff's they would not hit the ground. I guarantee if you throw P275 R60's out back and added a 1 inch pad to the upper rear spring mount, the muff's would not hit anything, mounted like the pic I added. The problem with your setup is that the muff's are long and right on the side edges of the gas tank.

Actually, judging by the pictures, the mufflers are on the sides of the trunk well, not the gas tank. Even disregarding that, it looks like a hideous jerry-rigged setup just for the sake of having dual mufflers.

I could never look at my mufflers all visable and angled like that everyday, it just doesn't look right to me. I like the way that dude has them straight and further back better, but I don't like that he has no tailpipes coming out of the back. I think ******* dual chambered exhaust was the best or any way that allows the mufflers to be configurated straight, has tailpipes, and of course reasonable clearance.

My mufflers were underneath the car like the pic in the grass. One is still like that. The other one got ripped off. If your going to run duals try to do it like willey...he spent the cash but its worth it.

That looks like crap, just get single exhaust if you aren't gonna make the duals look good.

I don't like either of those setups. There are better ways to do it. For christs sake, just using bullet mufflers would be a huge improvement.

z28.. Unfortunately, the rear areas of these cars are not symmetrical. Even if you did hang the mufflers as proposed, they would still not hang evenly from both edges of the car (i.e. one tip in line with the red ares of the tail lamp, one tip in line with the amber area). While it would look considerably better, it unfortunatly, would not look right either. If your budget only allows for re-hanging the mufflers then go for it. If it allows for new mufflers, try getting something tube shaped to mount in the current locations.
*note.. as one of the few, I realize you didn't make the current setup and are looking to improve it.

Deadbird, That is a great setup you have. Can you send me more pictures of it. I am interested in the front part of it. I have to build an exhaust for my LS1 conversion and need maximum clearence. Your design looks like a good place to start from.
I appreciate your help.
Thanks,
BILL

This is the exact reason why the 3rd gens have such a bad rap. It's all because of these ******* modifcations and stupid looking autozone exterior add-ons. Get a nice Hooker catback or something that actually fits the car.
