Do ANY manifold flow better than others?

Are there any specific years/models when the third gen manifolds flowed better than others? Or any other car that used manifolds that flow better but will work with the y pipe on a third gen.

The manifolds on my car are from an 84 Z28 with a 305. It was not the HO.

Thanks

The 350 TPI exhaust manifold. It's the highest and best flowing manifolds on all the 3rdgens. I have a set for sale with NO air tubes. They came off a 89 L98 TPI Iroc. Email me if your interested??

I think i'll find a set here in Edmonton, but thanks a lot anyway. So if its a 350 TPI they should be the ones?

Yeah but are headers really as hard to fit in our cars as I've heard? Or are you talking about the shorty headers or something?

The 305HO (L69) version is the same as the TPIs. It is larger all around--for example the intermediate pipe is 2 3/4, which is larger than the aftermarket catback I was running. Check my sig. Also, should you decide to go with headers, buy the HO version.

Headers it is then. Is there anyway you can just cut up and modify your y-pipe to work with long tube headers? I jsut moved and dont have any of my tools or anything so I cant get under the car to look myself. Thanks guys.

normally an exhuast shop can weld you up a real y-pipe for pretty cheap.

I agree that headers are the best way to go, but I often think that some stock set-ups get a bad rap. For example, compare the stock LG4 y-pipe with the stock L69.
