Ok i have a 91 camaro with a 305 tbi and i want to put a new exhaust on. There is a place in my town that has flowmaster and they install them. What do i tell the guy when i go in there? Is all i need to tell him is what series i want? Should it be 40 or 80 and what is the difference between them? I would like to have true duals. How much do you think it will cost for something like this? I dont know much about cars as you can probably tell so help would be great.

Good luck finding an exhaust shop to run duals. Most that I have encountered and numerous people on here are lazy, and only want to do minor crap on newer cars that they can get paid for instead of dealing with customized work.

As far as which series, I think the40 series is the louder of the Flowmaster ones, but I'm sure someone else can help better with that. Good luck.

Running duals on that car probably isn't worth the hassle to be honest.

are you talking about the hole exhaust or just the muffler. if its just the muffler theres no way u can do true duals unless you replace the hole exhaust. but if you talking about the entire exhaust then just get the origanal set up with 3 inch tubing. hope this helped.

But the reason they won't run duals on 3rd gen's, is the simple fact that it is FEDERALLY illegal to run duals on a vehicle that didn't have that option from the factory.

Try big $$$$$ fines if caught, usually high enough to close most shops, same goes with removing the cat converter.

Im talking about the enitre exhaust because i know that my cat is bad and there is a leak somewhere near it. It has the original exhaust on it and it now has 128,000 miles on it so im guessing it could use all new exhaust?

New Cat, Flowmaster, 3" tails... run you about $500 installed.

Leave the pipe from the cat to the muffler alone. It's like 2 7/8" and is close enough to 3" that you wont do anything but waste money upgrading it unless it's rusted out/holy/pinched. And 2 7/8" pipe is not going to be more restrictive than exhaust manifolds.

If you want add headers... $300 headers/y-pipe usually... put them on yourself or pay someone $400+ for the installation.

40 Series is the way to go. Contrary to popular belief flowmasters on our cars aren't *LOUD*... they are loud. If it was true dual w/ headers then they'd be LOUD... but a 40 series is the loudest, and an 80 series is quiet w/ better flow.

where do u live! i've never heard of that, in pittsburgh we have a custum exhaust shop called RedLine exhaust and they do true duals all the time, and haven't heard of any fines on true duals. no cats is legal here as long as your car emission exempt IE: classic plates or u drive less than 5000 miles since your last inspection, also some counties here r all emission exempt. i wish i lived in one of those counties

It wont matter if i get the exhaust before the headers will it? I dont have that much money right now. And would the 80 series be better because of the flow or will it not make much of a difference. Also with the new exhaust will i notice a slight performance gain?

is it illegal if you run dual cats with it? i'd never heard adding a dual exhaust was prohibited, just when you took the cat out to do it. i'd believe that as being a state law, but never heard of it as a federal rule.
