deleting air tubes on manifolds

deleting air tubes on manifolds

i took these off my manifolds today and went to buy plugs to use at home depot. well i got some plugs i beleive 1/4 inch. but they dont fit. i then noticed there is a taper on the fitin from the air tubes. i went back to home depot and cant find anything like i need. has anyone done this and what did you use?

It has been a long time since I plugged mine but I believe I used 1/4 pipe plugs. The original AIR fittings are purposely an odd size, but with a pipe plug, since they have tapered threads, tighten as they screw in. Get the brass ones and they should seal well, the brass thread will "give" where other metals won't. Hope this helped.

i ended up usin 1/4 inch cast iron plugs. i jus put a wrench with a pole on it for leverage and forced them on.
