Taking it off should make it run better if it was shot. Sounds like you have another problem. Could you explain what exactly it's doing?

a common mistake when doing such a repair is messing up the firing order of the plugs. recheck em, but like said, what exactly is the car doing?
well, at a certain low RPM, im not sure what it is cuz my tach doesn't work, the car sputters. all i know is i need another cat cuz the car is too loud and it sounds like one of those ******* p.o.s trucks
thanks

I doubt it has anything to do with the cat being gone. I would hazzard a guess that you did something unintentional and undesireable while doing the exhaust gaskets, like switching a couple of spark plug wires around, or something to do with the plugs or wires.
