82-85, 86-90 why?

82-85, 86-90 why?

whats different in why a 85-90 aftermarket exaust wouldnt work on a 82-84? Thanx

it will, it's just basically the way the cat attaches to the y pipe that's different.

thats dumb, i wonder why so many companies list them as different especially when the catback is completely uneffected by it, oh well its good news i can order any 3rd gen exaust, thanx

Most people want a bolt in cat-back. The changes in different years won't allow a cat back for an 83 camaro to fit a 91 Camaro directly(one example). It's not 'uneffected' because the Cat back hooks to the Cat. But yes, the rest of the Cat back will fit just fine.
