Y pipes

I tried searching, but couldn't come up with anything worth while. Do any of the companies that make headers for our cars use a 3" y-pipe? Most say 2.5" pipe and 3" outlet for the catalytic converter.

I think most of them are 2.5" if you look at the front crossmember there isn't much room left for bigger (at least on the autos anyways, I haven't seen a manual from underneath). I've heard of people custom making 3 inch for them.

I made mine in to a 3 inch. Cut off the orignal pipe that connects to the headers. And welded the connection to the new pipe.
Peace Out,

the biggest and best y pipe made is the hooker 2055 y pipe, which is two 2.5 inch pipes that merge into one single 3 inch pipe.

Edelbrock makes a Y pipe also for there TES headers (crappy flange design)... with 2 2.5" that weld onto the intermediate pipes (only for dual CAT models).

I've heard a muffler shop will weld one up for you for 300 or less lol. Big rip but hey, its just what I heard. Call around some welder shops or muffler shops and check out your local prices.

SLP and hooker are the best and about the same. One is not better than the other and both utilize 2.5" piping into a 3" collector.

SLP's Y-pipe is two 2 1/4 pipes into a 3 inch collector

I bought the SLP Y-Pipe that bolts onto the stock exhaust manifolds and the pipes are 2-2 1/2" downtubes into one 3" collector. Here's the part # 31031.

Yeah, I had that Y-pipe on my first thirdgen with stock manifolds and it was 2.5 inch. Its strange Since the manifold outlets are only 2.25 inch, and even stranger is that the Y-pipe that comes with the SLP headers is only 2.25.

I just had 1 made...2.5" at the collectors to 3" for my Edelbrock TES headers. IMO the Edelbrock Ypipe is a sh1tty design.

Speaking of sh1tty designs....holy smoke the original ypipe is a terrible joke. I will get some pics up of the pipe, but man it has to be super restrictive compared to what I just got made up. I will be at the track tomorrow night with results from the Ypipe upgrade.

Bigger and better then Mufflex's dual 3" into 4" pipe?

lol, I guess not, but I was referring to a shorty header/y pipe combo, not something custom made to fit long tube headers. On the majority of the cars here the mufflex y pipe would be too big and the hooker would be better anyways.
