Just installed true duals

I just installed true duals in the stock location.....and dumped before the rear axle.............seeing as though i lost my job last week, i bought some cherry bombs from my buddy for 10 bucks....well now it feels like i've lost 50 percent of my power!!!!!! i'm going to be putting on flowmasters.....again.......

the car seems like its running on 7 cylinders........it shifts wayyy too soon.....I thought duals where supposed to increase performance......well i lost half.....

i dont know ill look into it tomarrow....but.....i'm sure its the cherry bombs..

and of coarse the pipe that i used was not mandrel bent..

Rob..

i wouldnt say you lost power. You probably are feeling a loss of torque because of the load the engine is under with all the backpressure. do you have headers? About your trans, you could of messed something up with the trans when you were playing around with the exhaust. check for linkage binds and what not.

Congratulation on the install. Do you have any pictures of the set-up you could post for us to have a look at?

What diameter of pipe did you use? Why did you not mandrel bend it?

Have you tried running it without any mufflers for comparison?

Sorry to hear you've lost your job Rob. Best of luck with finding something soon.

the car runs 9.0 at the track....................it doesnt pull like it did when it had the single 3"... i used 2.5 "....

i picked all the pieces up at autozone....

now that i have the pipes all chopped and aligned.. i can bring the desing to a muffler shop and have it copied w/mandrel bends..

its hard to tell if something is wrong(plug wires etc) because i'm not used to the true dual sound...

ill look into it.. but.. even w/ cherry bombs.. i should feel some increase over single exhaust right???

i love the rumble in the car w/ the duals.....

Rob...

I just thought....maybe i knocked off the vac modulator hose..

i hate to admit it also.... the bombs sound pretty good... but.. dont compare to flowmasters....

9.0 ...in the 1/8th I'm hoping?

Cherry bombs are hillbilly mufflers although I bet they flow better than flowmasters since they're a straight-through design. You definately have some motor problems unrelated to the exhaust if you say your car is as slow feeling as it is.

"straight through design" ----

they are extremely restrictive.......... it necks down to 2" inside glasspacks......

I dont have an H pipe either..

I really didnt prepare ...i just had an urge...went to the store and stuck it on...

well i found it..... F-bird thought it might be a intake gasket... sure enough i go out there today and its blown....- the plugs where covered in white ash...

i've replaced it 2 times..... but i thought i could get away without using a torque wrench or the correct tighting sequence...

guess i was wrong...

I took down the timing a bit too...and that seemed to help..

Rob..

i love flowmasters....
