Has anyone used POR 15 Aluminum finish exhaust coating on headers? Results?

Hello, Who makes thes coating? We use a Silver gray aluminized basecoat and I'm wondering how what you are asking about compares. What are the exact ingredients?
Thanks JIMI @ ACS

I have. It turned out pretty good, except for the headers weren't in great shape to begin with...lots of rust and scabs on them beforehand and I only wirebrushed the loose stuff off. They're 8-year old Hedmans, and I wasn't gonna spend $80 to have them sandblasted like what should have been done. As long as the prep work is good, the results will be good.

This is how they looked in my Formula just after being installed.
I used POR-15 gloss black on the inner fenderwells and lower firewall.

Haven't ever used it, but if it's as good as their other coatings you won't have a problem. Have you also looked at CeramaKrome or Black Satin by Tech Coatings (I think that's the company name)?

I have.

Some things to follow to get a good lasting finish.

1. Put them on a known good motor with proper timing, not a new motor where the timing could be jacked and you will super heat them from the get go.

2. After mounting them start the motor and let it idle for only about a minute, then shut it down and allow them to fully cool.

3. Of course follow the directions on the can properly!!!

The finish will be real nice and should last a very long time.

Wow, your headers look pretty good. When I go to swap my heads this spring, I might take off my headers and sand blast them and try some of that stuff. How much of it would I need to do shorty headers???

These have been replaced with Hooker 2210 coated LTs, so I have no pics of em in the car, they were only used for like 100 miles. But thats what the POR-20 looked like.

Thanks! The picture isn't great quality, and they'd only seen maybe 20 minutes of running time by then. If you can take them down to bare metal, your results will be better and probably last longer.
As for how much to get - I bought a pint, and di two coats on the headers, two coats on the y-pipe, and two coats on the complete cat-back, and still have about 1/3 of that pint left.

I blasted mine and then acid etched them as well with the POR products Metal Ready. Resto-Motive is the sheet!

A pint goes forever, I think thats what I got, the smallest can.

That is called a super ram. Its a step up from TPI. Its the only non-LTR set that retains EGR function.
