New engine, the spintech just got louder

After a little fright last night thinking I had some major problems, everything is working great with the new engine. Here's just a quicky video I did a few min ago to show off how the exhaust sounds. It's much better in person but you'll get the idea Here's the video, 0.5 MB Only reved it to about 3,000 and was idling at about 750 rpm.

Here's another quick video. Decided to do the old camera on the ground video Just got back from driving around and stopped on a side road to check things. The #2 spark plug wire is arching on the header so new wires, booties and brackets are in order.

What do I expect out of it? Eventually getting it up to 475 - 500 hp, I'm guessing it's right close to 400 now. Times I'd like to get, mid to low 12's N/A and somewhere in the 11's on the bottle. Still need to change the intake, exhaust system, gears and do chassis and suspension work. Still got plenty of work to do and more money to throw at it lol.

Sound great man.....now when you say you are gonna change that exhaust, that scares me a little since it sounds sooo good. You will stay with spintech though right? If I recall right, you have their Pro shoot out.

Yes, I'll be adding another 3" pro shootout and long tube headers for dual exhaust. Should sound even better after that's done It'll be a while before I can do it though, have to get some other things sorted first.

what size do you have on there now? You happy with the single in/out? I think that's exactly what I'll be running in back of the hooker 2055s. I just need to get the hard part of putting the new engine in out of the way.

Oh, and can you maybe post a picture of your muffler you have now....I just want to see how you have the single in/out mounted and how you have the turn-down......I know.....

More videos please!

I love the way that Spintech sounds. If cops weren't so bad around here, thats probably the setup I would run.

I have a 3" single right now from the y-pipe back. The exhaust pipe is pretty well hidden if you're looking from behind, kinda goes up then turns down a bit at the back. Wish I had the video camera last week cause a friend of mine and I both did a couple of nice burnouts at his shop lol. I'll try for a better video this week

That's just the opposite of what happened to me. The 383 is actually quieter than the 350 was with the same cam/heads/exhaust.

Does your car know you changed the engine?!

Really though, that's wierd. Did it get more of a rumble even though it didn't get louder??

Is that all mandrel bend 3" pipe? What is the size of the muffler itself....looks a little larger than my dad's pro street (street muffler, but I thought the pro shoot out and pro street came in the same size). Will you be alright as far as ground clearance with the dual exhaust? Good luck

Not mandrel, just regular bends New dual exhaust will be mandrel and as far as ground clearance goes... The guy who's going to do it is known for tucking the exhaust up as much as he can so I'm not worried. Size of the muffler should be 4 X 6 X 12.

brodyscamaro, I've just now finished up the first tank of gas and gotta fill up later today lol. Haven't driven it all that much because of a stupid little oil leak at the back of the manifold. Redoing it today if there's a break in the weather then the miles will be put on more quickly

Still have power brakes with no reservoir Sometimes the pedal gets a tad harder but 99% of the time it's like when I had the 305 in there.

Thanks sounds better in person (as always) lol yeah, the cat is still on there and it's not even gutted. Haven't gotten around to putting a "test pipe" in yet It's on the to do list along with a million other things. Putting a Victor Jr on tomorrow after finding out the torker II doesn't line up properly with the AFR heads. It was only on there for the time being anyway.

One magazine put the AFR 180's on a 400 block and made 490 HP

And most likely would have made more with bigger heads. 400+ cubic inches is a lot and it wants a lot of air. 220 might have been better, but oh well.

Yeah, got them right from AFR fully assembled. Didn't do any upgrades on them though. So far no problems taking it to 6,000 rpm except for sucking the fuel bowls dry needs a better fuel pump.
