problems after installing headers

I just got slp headers installed on my '88 305 TPI.
now it wants to go off every time I stop on a light, I have give it a little gas so that it wont go off on me. also is not running smooth. I was thinking maby is a bad sensor or a leak?

Anybody have any idea of what could be causing this problem.
I dont know where to start.

what do you mean when you say it wants to go off. its the engine wanting to die?

if so i would say you got a vacuum problem or a wire of some sort is burning/grounding out on the header.

I'm with 87 B4Z. They probably either knocked a vacuum line loose, or one or multiple spark plug wires are grounding out on the headers. They also may not have seated the boot on the plug all the way, or they cracked the ceramic insulator on a plug.

Good luck finding the problem

Thanks for the info.
I will check the cables around the headers. the spark plugs are all new so Im guessing thats not it.
If its a vacum problem how could I check this myself?

Spray some carb cleaner on all the vacuum lines that you suspect may be leaking. If the idle raises when you spray the line, that's your problem.

will the carb clener damage plastic or stain something?
& what about the heat on the engine and the headers? I dont want no fire on my engine bay.
