Hey fellas, got a new question for you. A while ago I was trying to decide between the Edelbrock and Flowmaster Cat-back system, I ended up going with the Flowmaster because I could get a discount at work. Thing is, I now have to make regular 4 hour+ drives, and while the Flows were awesome for regular around town driving, on the highway that much rumble gets old. So, I have a couple questions...The first is is the edelbrock any quieter, and what is its tone (ie deep or stock, quiet at idle, loud at WOT or the opposite, how does it sounds cruising at 3K or so)? Second, the tips tuck up completely under the bumper, yes? Lastly, I'm also slightly concerned with durability...I'd like this to be a final solution to the problem, and my lasting plans call for a sleeper look, will the exhaust fit this and last for a very long time, or will it rust? Would coating the entire catback in POR15/POR20 for longevity be advisable, or even possible? I'm also very strongly considering the Banks catback (by the way, a member emailed me a banks clip, it was greatly appreciated), and pretty much have all the same questions, plus one more: I know they offer a dual outlet on the drivers side at the moment, do these tips protrude at all, or are they hidden? I've also heard rumors they are redesigning their exhaust system, would the new one be more "low-key" in terms of staying out of sight? Sorry for the long post and tons of questions, just trying to get a very clear answer to this question before I go yanking my exhaust.

Just a quick follow up, it mentions what I'm looking for in my post above, and if anyone thinks a different brand would fill these needs better, feel free to chime in. All I am looking for is a pleasant sounding, quiet/medium system that is completely hidden under the car, with no big pipes protruding.

And no, I still like to be loud . But I am hoping to change a good deal of the drivetrain around and am attempting to have the car quiet/sleeper 90% of the time, with an electric cutout for the other 10% when loud is beneficial.

well myself and several others of us have the banks system and it is very nice..Hope you liked the sould clip! ..You will not get alof of logevity with the Flow or edlebrock system because of the material they use.The banks kit is stainless and will last a LONG,LONG time. The standard system has (2) pipes on the left and they are pretty much flush with the rear fascia. They look very nice.I choose to go with the 4th gen muffler section that has the dual pipes (one on each side) just because I liked the look a bit better.I made the modification to make it work.Plus considering the price of the Banks kit and the aluminized systems, pricing is pretty close so it is a no brainer to get the Banks....IMO it sounds amazing!

if you have a 3 inch cat you could get a cat back system and go straight through the muffler into a single outlet . like the way mine sounds it's not loud cruisin unless you in 2 or 3 gear but at WOT it sounds real good

I'd look into the Hooker cat back. Quiet at idle, but when you stomp it people know it.

I second this, and further enhance its ability with headers.
At idle my car has a fairly quiet rumble, even on startup.
When you mash out it goes wild and can be heard anywhere.

I appreciate the comments guys, just to clarify, I want this to be very, VERY quiet. The cutout is for when it needs to loud. Quiet but pleasant and very long lasting are the key requirements. Would the POR15 or POR 20 work as a way to improve the durability of the non-stainless systems?

POR 15 won't hold up to the heat, but Black Satin will. It's made by Tech Line Products and it doesn't require curing.

If you're looking for really quiet, the Dynomax cat back seems to take that award...
