Get the Flowmaster 80?
Get the Flowmaster 80?
I'm running all stock exhaust right now except for the Dynomax Super Trubo that the previous owner put on, what a let down that muffler is. I want to put on a flowmaster because i love the sound of them. The super turbo is already crossflow so i was thinking of putting on an 80 series. I want a nice deep sound from it, will the 80 give me that? Also, if i get the 80 series, how will putting on a better cat (high flow i think it's call...excuse my cat stupidity) change the sound, ie deep, louder, quieter...this is mostly a post for some opinions on the flowmaster 80, thanks for the help.

I personally hate the sound of Flowmaster, cuz every damn car in America just about has one....especially mustangs. Just my opinion. If you want a loud rumble, the 40 series is the loudest flowmaster (I think) but I know it's louder than the 80 series. If you install a high flow cat, it will probably add a little volume to your exhuast note since you are flowing more air in the same amount of time. The 80 is said to have a deep mellow rumble while the 40 has a far more aggressive rumble and is loud as hell at WOT.......Don't worry about running too much exhuast right now, especially if you have only a L03. They don't flow enough air to justify a huge exhaust anyways. Just get a Flowmaster cat-back and you'll be set.

Basically a cat-back is just that....everything included from the catalytic converter back. Usually kits come with an I-pipe (primary pipe) over the axle pipe, muffler, and exiting pipes. They should all bolt up to the factory cat, just check the 8th digit in your VIN and order a cat-back based on that....or engines size, same difference.

I have a flowmaster 80 on my car. I didn't put it there, its what was on it when I bought the car.
In fact, I'll have a small video clip of the car. Thanks to how long it sat, and the other crap it blew black smoke, running rich for some reason. When the car is warm it doesn't do that. I also believe the TPS and IAC need to be adjusted. Basically, my car needs a bit of work, and a major tune-up. A working transmission would be good too, as the car only has 1st and 3rd gear right now. Hence why its been sitting for so long. I'm puting a rebuilt transmission in it sometime soon.
Personally, I like the sound, though I'd prefer a Hooker Aerochamber, or a spintech.

Did it sound better? Some 80 series I hear sound great, and others sound way to hollow and raspy. I love the sound my American thunder catback puts out, but I want to put a straight pipe through my cat when I install my headers this spring.
