adjusting tail pipes after already clamped?
When I bought my car I didnt like the position the tail pipes are in and I cant seem to adjust them now that they have been clamped and prolly rusted together and when loosened they just refuse to move...is there any way to get them to move so I can move the tail pipes closer to the body??????
thanks for any info

When i did up my tailpipes custom, i had the guys heat up the tailpipes with the torch....to the point that they glowed orange...that way, they were able to bend it just the right amount to have it sit the way i want. They also propped it into that position with a pipe holder or whatever that thing was till it cooled off so it would hold in that position. Hope this helps.

Use some penetrating oil and give it time to work. That and then some heat if that doesn't work....
But you will have to give them some pretty decent torque to get them loose now that the clamps have crimped the pipes. But there is really no reason you shouldn't be able to get them loose enough to swing them up and down enough to line them up.

Grab a 2"X4" of proper length and then just use it as a lever.
Dont waste your time stressing and trying to muscle it, I have been there before, this works best, or heat.

but I dont want to bend anything either... I dont have a torch right now so Im kinda in a hard spot,I got one side to go up a bug hair
as you may see in the pic on the pass side pipe..but it was barley enough to notice
Now you dont want to bend the system out of shape.
Put a couple jackstands under the muffler to hold firmly in place, shown in green.
Insert 2"X4" as shown and lift, shown in blue.
It helps alot to have a buddy help you out.

Just brace up the muffler real good, so you dont bend the system up.
Or you can brace the top of the Muffler so it doesnt move and then just put a jack under the tailpipe.
Just use the leverage and your brain together and you will come out just fine.
