small mufflers for duals

I have open longtubes right now. I can't run it on the street like that. I want to run some x-tensions, then small mufflers, then some turndowns. I was thinking the dynomax bullets, but then I heard they're real loud. What other "bullet" style mufflers are out there? I'm thinking about the moroso spiral flows. I want it to sound mean, but not deafening.

Thrush magnum glasspacks. Similiar to bullets but longer and quieter. Straight through design with little restriction. But are very loud at WOT. And they only come in red AFAIK. And biggest diameter is 2.5 inches.

Go for the 1 Chamber flowmasters it will sound mean as hell at WOT but not to loud while driving normal.

Or go for the borla XR1 muffler they are a little bigger then a bullet, no where near as loud at idle or cruising speed, but once again at WOT she will sound mean as hell.

I am putting duals with an X-Pipe on my 99 SS and going with the 1 chamber flows as soon as my headers get to my house.

good luck with your decision.

those are what I'm running w/ hedman longtubes and it sounds sweet. It is kinda loud when you're driving but it still is possible to talk(kinda)

now only if i could tuck them up a little farther under the car

That's what I am running right now with my Hedmans and "home made" H-pipe. Things sounds wicked at idle and screams at WOT. However, it's more of a vintage muscle car sound, and not comparable to the more "high tech" sounds like Banks or Hooker and the such. But I like it nonetheless.

And jimmy, the biggest diameter they have is actually 3". Jegs sells them for around $20 a piece I think. At least the 2 1/2" were, dunno about the 3" ones though.

Those 1-chamber flows on our cars is pretty loud and it will probably be extremely loud if you don't run the exhaust out the back. It is my opinion that they don't do to much in the way of 'muffling' the exhaust. I'll be replacing mine sooner or later. Really high pitch at high rpms. If you want a sound or video clip, I can email you one.

Go with the Flowmaster Delta Force 1 chambers. I just put these on my 92 Z28, 3'' inlet/outlet along with Hedman long tubes. They sound very deep at normal driving, and really bark out some nice notes under wide open throttle. It is a night and day difference over the factory trash.

Bullet mufflers can do a very good job, My friend had bullets with turndowns on his truck and it was much quieter then my bullet running out the back. It keeps it very noticible but still quiet at idle and when your not WOT...But at WOT it screams but still has an awesome tone...I've been running a 3 inch bullet for over a year and I LOVE IT!

From what I have heard, Flowmasters and not very small. I think they are like at least 4 inches thick. Thats bad when ground clearance is an issue. I dont think hes going to get away from something loud either. It hard to have quiet exhaust when it right underneath your azz........

I used Edelbrock RPM muffers 3in inelt, 3in out. They are only 3 1/4 inches thick. Sounds great.

I used Hedman Lt's with 2 1/2 bullits. I ran the pipes beside the driveshaft on the passenger side. I mounted the mufflers under the rear pass side seat. Then I had turn outs on both mufflers that turn out toward the rear pass tire.

The sound is projected away from you and the drivers in the left hand lane. The pipes are so close that I had small spacers welded between them to keep them from clanking together.

I love it. It has a nice rumble at idle and is real agressive at WOT.
