OK, I have an '84 firebird with the 2.5L engin(actually a friends but might as well be mine).This is my first third gen F-body. Hooker said they stopped making their super comp headers for it back in '87. I know headman makes headers that'll fit an "iron duke" but they're technacally for a jeep. Anyone know if they'll fit up with the cat or back on an f-body? I've also heard that SOME gm 350 headers will fit the iron duke. Anyone know wich model? I used the search and didn't find anything. Sorry if I over looked something. Any info/links are greatley appreciated. Thanks in advance.

 

Even though they stopped making it, they still actually make the header for the Fiero's with the Iron Duke. At least as of last year they still were. You should see how much of a difference there is in the header and you may be able to get it modified to work on your car.

Also try searching for 'jeep "iron duke" header'. The early 80's jeeps (maybe older) were blessed with the ID as well. If I'm not mistaken, I think heddman and maybe pacesetter both make a header. Weather or not it will work in an f-body is a different story. The only other thing would be to make one.

Thanks guys. I was thinking about the Headman's for the Jeep, I was afraid of the clifford just because I personnally don't know anyone who's used that brand before. But it's probably better to go with something actually designed for the car. Plus I don't know if the Headman will even have ground clearance, or how much HP I can expect from them. The Clifford's offer about 16.56 HP wich will bump it up to 108-109 HP(everything else bone stock I assume). Wich isn't too shabby. Thanks again, I really appreciate it.

 

clifford is mainly associated with the inline 6 cylinder engines dating back from at least the 50's to the 80's...

i know they advertise a lot in classic truck magazines.

 

yeah, clifford started out with inline 6 performance and then moved into 4 banger territory. I used to work for a guy that ran a clifford 4 barrel manifold on his straight six 69 camaro. Not the 250 straight six, but a larger six out of a friggin dump truck. He had a friend that owned an exhaust shop and he built him a custom dual outlet header running into true dual 3 inch exhaust breathing through some turbo mufflers. Thing had so much torque that he chewed up 5 rear-ends, killed one 12 bolt w/ just one launch, before he settled on a rear end out of a 1 ton chevy pickup. Thats where i got the clifford recommendation
