changing my exhuast over

right now i have edelbrock tes headers and 3''y-pipe and 3"exhaust. a very seasoned drag racer and mechanic i know told me that long tubes should be whats on my motor because the first 4 feet of exhaust are the most important. then run dual the rest of the way out all custom made. know i have a 5-speed and the slave cylinder i hear gets in the way .is that true and should i get rid off my headers and y-pipe for the long tubes and dual exhaust, or will it hurt my car.

lt headers typically over shorties help out with producing more torque downlow, while providing for better scavenging at higher rpms, which helps produce more peak hp...

I run the hooker lt's, i suggets reading that sticky through- it clears my 5 speed setup just fine, its justa stock setup and everythgin.. . only clearence issues are small, and easily remedied..

I'd suggest it, altho i have chosen to do a mufflex ypipe to as 4" mufflex system back.. altho i have a hooker 3" cat back on it now...

do you have a major clearance problem with that setup

clearence as far as what? i had all the issues mentioned in the write up. they were very minor however, and very easy work arounds. it was nothing that made me regret getting this setup, especially after we dynoed the motor with them- they were slightly torqueier than the nascarmodiefied headers that the dyno operator uses for his egt setup...

if your talking about groundclearence, the mere fact that i am going to put a 1" drop on the car should be good enough to let you know that while it does reduce groundclearence going with this setup, very few times have i bottomed out with it... altho make sure your shocks are good... a hard bounce on my original 81k shocks allowed to touch on the highway over our lovely ct roads...
