Electric Cutout

Where is a good place to get electric cutouts at a decent price? I am going to need 2 because i am running dual exhaust.

mine cost $100 bucks....the McCord Power Plate...they have a pretty good warranty. That's about the base price..anywhere between $100-$200 bucks....I love mine.....one of the best "add on's" I've installed

Same here. I only run 1, but they sell them pre-wired as a pair for like $200. The cool thing is, the prewire the whole thing so all you have to do is hook up power and ground. I put in a relay to be sure not to drain the battery. They go from full closed to full open in about 2.5 seconds. It's kind of cool because you can just crack it for a little more noise, or open it all the way for the fullest effect.

do yall really run it inbetween open and closed? Mine just sounds like a big exhaust leak when it's only cracked open.

Sounds wicked with it wide open though, I have mine right after my headers I do get a slight leak with it all the way closed. Has anyone tried to fix this? I hear it's a common "problem".

Honestly though, if you don't have a little more aggressive cam, I don't think it would sound good (at idle anyway).

I love mine, I got mine with the group purchase a while back, from the McCord link.

never had any problems with mine...I do oil it up every once in awhile though. When I run mine...I usually run it wide open.....loud as hell....sounds like a NASCAR...especially with headers ....just better forget about listening to the stereo when the power plate is open!

I have an exhaust shop weld my cutout in....but I actually installed the McCord Power Plate...it was very easy to do....just ground it, and run the power to the fuse box or some other power source. Depending on where you have your cutout installed...I just took my passenger seats out (front and back) ran the wiring harness under the carpet, took out the plug in the back floor board under the passenger seat, and ran the wires that way..it was easy....guess it just depends on how well you know your car.

Mine doesn't leak at all....maybe if you got underneath the car...and put your ear up to it..you might hear a little something...but nothing major here.....

thnx 84 custom....my concern was who can weld up the cut outs to the pipes...the reason i asked is cuz i know the shops wont do the str8 pipes on the car (illegal) unless its someone you know... but since you said the exhost shop did it on your car then i shouldnt worry about it

yeah, here in Indiana, we have emission laws...but they are not enforced, exhausts are not checked or anything. I guess a cop could pull you over and look under the car though. I know a few people at a few shops that will do that kind of stuff for me...I had my dual cats cut off too...no restiction at all...I just hope the laws don't get enforced!...but if they do...that's why I bought the Edelcbrock TES headers with air tubes...

when I bought my car...my dad and I drove it up from Chicago..and on the way home...the cat's blew out..sounded like crap...so instead of having them replaced...I just had the exhaust shop weld straight pipe in place of them. My cutout is placed in my "I" pipe, under the passenger side back seat...

as for mine...if I just stand by my car...I can't hear any leaking at all. Now...if I get underneath, close to the cutout..I can hear it...just barely though. I'm very picky about things like that...but this dosen't bother me at all....

I have the qtec, it's pretty cool. There is a slight exhaust leak. But if I hold the switch in the closed position it stops, then I release and it comes back. Not that much, it doesn't really bother me. It is definately one of the coolest things you can buy.
