a very temporary solution might be a band clamp, it should fit rite in there neatly, that is what i plan on doing until i get the car to the exhaust shop, i just gas welded on the O2 sensor bung.

Just use a band clamp.

Can you leave it with a clamp like that or should I get it welded for sure?

Here is a pic Ben...

bolt it all up with the slip fit.

drive it to the muffler shop...

they'll tack it along the bottom..

then go home, unbolt the Y pipe, take it back to the shop, and they'll weld around it.

since most muffler shops dont prep the weld, and you cant have it too sloppy (tight fit between Kmember and pan), go over it with some sandpaper and brake cleaner near where hes welding before you bring it back to them.

lil bit of a pain, but it works..

athough..... you could always use this as a excuse to get a cheap 110v wire welder.... :lala:

Of course, you left out another possibility - borrow a cheap 110V wire welder...

My Headman Y pipe came with a clamp for that. The U bolt style one. Hasn't leaked a bit in 4 years.

My Y pipe is ceramic coated...will that effect the weld at all? Also, I know a buddy of mine has a stick welder. Is that okay for this type of job?
