I want to make a 2.25" pipe have a 2.5" ID. I noticed there's some that cost about $20 and another one that costs like $80. Do the inexpensive ones get the job done?
Thanks

That looks like the same p.o.s. I wasted $15 on over at Harbor Freight. Save your $$
It will work long enough to re-round a pipe 2 or 3 times though.

I rented one of those(from autozone) the directions on the box says its for removing the crimp from the pipe that the U-Bolts leave after you muscle(tighten) them on. They dont work! If you want pipe expanded take it to an exhaust shop and have it done youll save yourself some time and headaches. like deadbird said its good for rerounding the pipe, thats it.

if you know what you need flared, you could take it to a shop... or do what i do and get a slip fit pipe adapter...
I bought 2 2.25" - 2.5" reducers from Summit but both were 2.5" on both ends. I guess I could try returning them but not sure if they'd send me more defective ones. I guess I'll just take it all to an exhaust shop and let them fix it..

i fooled around with the expander (i rented) for 3days i gave up, i decided it would be faster if i heated the pipe up with a blowtorch and flared it with vise grips and then beat it w/ a hammer that was enough to hold the pipes while i welded them 2gether. heres whats wrong with heating the pipes up and putting the expander in theres a rubber o-ring if it gets hot enough and melts-then what will hold the expander bars on?
i'll second the slip fit adapter.
