I can tell you right now, you'll get alot of feedback from this thread. There's so many different opinions.
Have you looked at any of the previous threads on this subject?

Anyway, from all my dealings with putting headers on my camaro, I think I would have chosen the SLP ceramic coated long tubes. I'm not sure where the best place is to get them. I know they're not cheap, but after you've put one set on, you'll won't care to change them again.

But, if you're hard-headed (like I am) and you still want to go the cheap way. Summit Racing and Jeg's have various selections of headers that come painted with shipping paint that will have to be sand-blasted off and painted with high heat header paint.

Another important thing to remember is to make sure that the ID on the tubes equal to or exceed the port size coming from the heads. At least get 1 1/2" to 1 3/4".

P.S. I'm not an expert on this subject. I've learned alot of this info from reading these forums. (This was included for those of you who are bound and determined to beat me down for my suggestions).

If you want cheap longtubes you can do the hedman 68460 lt's but then you will have to build a custom y-pipe or run true duals.

I would be annoyingly loud. If it was only a track car that would be cool but if you plan on dirving it at all it woud get old real fast.

Okay, I'll use a few more words:

"It would sound red neck."

I just took a pair off of the '57. Great at the track, cop bait on the street.

The Hedman 68460 are dfintly the best hdr for the price, We carry these coated for $258 so buying the summitt junk would seem like a waste compared to our coated pricing on the Hedmans!!!
