Got My New Headman headers..Where Does My 02 Sensor Go?!?!?
i just purchased the headman headers from jegs with the ypipe (part no. 500-68470 & 500-17470) but they have to 02 sensor fitting anywhere. where does my 02 sensor go and if nowhere how do i fix this?????

man thats what i figured..............well does anyone know a little more about this? any detail on how its done and if not is there a way to bypass it? i just bought a new 02 sensor (i think mines shot) but can return it if it can be bypassed.
The o2 sensor is the MOST important sensor that the engine has. If you get rid of it, your car will have no idea what the A/F ratio is. It will essencially fail lean, and command rich. Meaning your fuel economy goes down, and performance follows right behind. Not the direction you want to go 
You need to weld in an o2 sensor bung on either collector pipe. Distance from the engine doesn't matter if you buy a heated o2. If you have a standard 1 wire o2, you will need to keep it as close to the engine as possible. I.E., no installation on the y-pipe. If you mount it far from the engine, it will take the o2 forever to reach 600 deg, meaning your car will take forever to enter closed loop, meaning your performance and gas mileage will suffer.
Also, if you need to extend the o2 wire, do NOT extend it on the wire coming out of the o2 sensor. It is a special stainless steel resistance wire, which does not accept solder. If you crimp it, the crimp will fail and mess up the voltage reading the o2 outputs. Many times the o2 will fail alltogether because of this, and you will be left buying a new one. Extend it on the vehicle side of the wiring. That is standard 16awg copper wire.

what if i went to the local hardware store and found a nut that threaded onto the 02 sensor then drilled a hole in the header collector and welded the nut onto that. then just screwed the 02 sensor into the nut???
would that work?

As long as you could find the exact size and thread pitch it would work. I couldn't find one at any of the local hardware stores, so I got mine from summit. It's a holley piece, and while it's overpriced at $5, it fits and looks great.

it's a funky thread... the same as a spark plug thread. Painless sells a weld-on bung. Another option is to find a mechanic that has the right size thread tap, and have him tap a piece of 1/4" steel that you can weld on.

except.... that "nut" is called a bung... and thats what they said earlier
i did it to my hedmans.. it wasnt too hard (then again, i own a welder).
i paid $3 for a O2 sensor bung... the hole goes to the BACK of the collector, on the drivers side header. you cannot have it on the front since it would hit the K member... theres plenty of room in the back...
mark your hole... drill it.. set the bung on top and weld it on.. (or have a muffler shop weld it on.) when i welded mine on, i put a 1/2" drive extention thru the hole so that i wouldnt get any splatter on the threads...
then ya just put the header on, and thread the O2 in there.

well i knew the over priced pieces of metal designed for this application was called a bung however i didnt want to pay for one.........turns out no one had one locally so i had to go through jegs (8.69) to get one. the reason i went through jegs is because ive delt with them in the past and thats where i bought my headers from. i didnt want to spent 8.99 for their and summits handling charge for a 8 dollar part and jegs worked with me since i had placed an order 5 days ago and waived that charge..................man i love JEGS!!!!
