Help Please!!!

I'm having a hard time finding a cat-back system for my car at all but what I want is something like a Flowmaster Force 2 system that is somewhat reserved around town but comes to life when I mash the gas. I can't seem to find anything like this for an '83 Trans Am... if someone could tell me where to get something like this I would really appreciate it.. thanks.

You should get a custom exhaust made by your local exhaust shop. Cat-back systems don't always fit perfectly, and will leak from the flanges. And going custom, costs about the same as flowmaster's catback system.

A lot of bolt-ons exhaust systems come up short. So some folks have to spend extra money at exhaust shops.

"oh, and I just gotta say this... how does a "car guy" justify voting democrat?"
Well, I'd like to breathe cleaner air while driving my v8. Democrats usually find a way to balance the two.

You'll be surprised at how flexible Democrats are when it comes to cars. They believe that Americans have the right to choose the kind of car they want to drive.

While, Republicans will force Americans to drive economic cars, Democrats, on the other hand, will force automakes to make more fuel-effecient vehicles (or look for alternate fuels) so we can keep driving our beloved v8 4x4's.

And the price of oil will climb again, and so will gas prices.

Your political beliefs are "technically" inaccurate:

Perhaps the Democrat on the street, certainly not the ones in power. Replace "Democrats" in that 2nd sentence with "Republicans", and you'd have a true statement. The only "rights" the Democrats believe in are the rights of the guilty. The rest of us require their "guidance".

Republicans will force Americans to drive economic cars...
Complete

And much, much faster if he's elected.

You really need to get your information from sources other than network TV and NEA members.

So as not to turn this into a political thread...

Daytona T/A:
'83 was kind of a "bastard" year. Cat-backs for later years are more common because the factory finally stuck with one design starting in '86 until the '90 model year (at least for TPI single-cat cars). And, it was much better than the earlier offerings.

The '83 system stank from exhaust ports to rear bumper (L69 somewhat excepted). Real improvement will require replacing it all. If you really don't want to do that, you can buy a single-cat application cat-back and modify it to fit your cat. Or, buy the 3" cat for the above TPI application and modify your y-pipe to fit the cat, and bolt the new cat-back to the cat (better choice than modifying the cat-back IMO).

well, since the mods probably have really itchy fingers after reading all this political stuff I'll just leave it at this... you just about took the words right out of my mouth, five7kid, And thanks for the advice and info from both of you... I'm kinda bummed about not being able to find a cat-back system that can just be bolted on because I really don't like trusting my car to other ppl... I took it to a local body shop today to see about touching up the engine compartment after taking a year to work up the courage to even get an estimate . Thanks again for the advice... any other ideas are welcome, too...
