Shorties or Longtubes?

What length headers would you guys recommend for my car (L05 92 camaro) Shorties or longtube? Which would make the best power while keeping with emissions and still be a daily driver?

I think shorties give more power up top, while longtubes give more power down low.

well that answers it. can't really use long tubes on a daily driver without ground clearance issues. i'd go with shorties unless you're making 400+HP

Long tubes are better, but you'll have to sacrifice some ground clearance for them.

Its also more complicated (meaning more $$) to make an exhaust for the long tubes in these cars.

Shorties are the way to go IMO.

Actually, the choice is defined by "while keeping with emissions", which means shorties with a y-pipe that routes to the factory cat location.

Hooker 2055's will not disappoint. Performance is going to limited by the LO5 heads, not short- vs. long-tube headers.

Alright thanks, I guess that narrows it down to shorties then. lol I doubt I'll be makin anywhere near 400+ hp anytime soon. Thanks for the info.

Car Craft done a test on the shorty/Intermediate-length headers vs long headers and you will be suprise of the results. The shorty/Intermediate-length headers outflowed the long tubes in the upper RPM's above 3400 by 20hp. I was thinking about getting rid of my Hookers 2460 for some long tubes Hedman68460, but after reading this DYNO testing I will stick with what I have and spoend the money on something else.

For the L05, I'd go with five7kid's recommendation, or even throw on some edelbrock TES's. Both would help out that motor. Do you plan on more modifications down the road?
