All Piont bullentin (APB) on Headers

I'm looking for a set of headers that will meet the criteria for my Combo.

Here is what I plan on using but need to find a set of headers that meet my needs. If you have any info for thirdgen camaro that meet the following specs let me know.
I got this recommendation fro a header designer who feels these will maximize my combo for the street and Rpm.

409 cid and 1 5/8" headers "Tune-In" between
3500 to 5500 rpm

The best primary lengths will be either 23" inches or
46" inches

The best Collector dia = 3.000" inches OD
the best Collector lengths will be =
12.5",25.0",50.0", and 100.0" long

the worst Collector Lengths will be;
18.8", 37.5" , and 75.0" inches

2 1/2" exhaust is about right because exhaust gases
cool as they travel further down the pipes

Jegs lists the hooker 2460 as 1 5/8 x 15 primaries with a 3 o.d collector that is 4 in long, it is a shory header. the hedman 68460 is a 1 5/8 primary with 3in o.d collector. all they say about the length is that it is a full lenght header that rquires dual exhaust

The 2460's are not equal-length headers. They may be 15" from top of flange to bottom of collector, but the primaries are longer and shorter than that.

The 68460's are long-tubes, approximately 30" primaries (but again, not equal-length).

1-5/8" primaries are "torque" size for a 409 cid engine. 1-3/4" would be better for power. Of course, you didn't give any details of the rest of the build or intended use, so it's a little difficult to make a real recommendation.

There are some pretty quick 454's and 455's out there running on 2-1/2" dual exhaust.

I have already got the recommendation that I needed. Now i'm looking for the headers/part# that fit the recommendation with the dimension listed above in the form of 1 5/8 for a 84 Camaro.

if you want exact specs that the header designer gave you, you would most likely have to make them your self.

I'll go one step farther: No commercially available headers for 3rd gens meet the specs you talk about above. If you want such headers, you are going to have to fabricate them yourself or have them custom fabricated.

Out of the two, which header come close to meeting those specs:
The 2460 or 68460

after reading your engines description i believe your car would perform better with long tube headers and a true dual exhaust. altho it will be much easier and you will have more ground clearance with shorty headers and a single exhaust.i would think a 3 1/2 single exhaust would work good for your application. i persnally run the hooker super comps on my car with the hedman shorties i originally put on it just killed my power output. the super comps are a night and day differance
