3" Stainless Piping

Hey guys, need some info on Stainless Steel Piping.

I need to know if by 3" exhaust it's the inner or outer diameter of the pipe. I'm getting a custome piping job done, and I'm looking at Stainless T-304 piping. Also, how thick should the pipe be? I'm gonna run it to a high-flow cat and then to a spintech 343SC (or whatever the dual outlet is).

Also, what do you find nicer, straight (chrome) tips, or angled?

flat, non cromed tips. crome will rust all in due time. i got sick of cleaning them so i'm going to get some flat tips and paint them black.

if your going to go with the crome, get the angled. the stright tips are disgusting. i've never liked them on any kind of car.

Why not aluminized pipe? Its won't rust, and costs a hell of a lot less than stainless. Then add stainless tips to the end of those pipes.

Just my $.02

Yea, I'm getting the whole system out of stainless.. but not if they're gonna rust.

What I really wanted to know is how thick the piping has to be and what a 3" diameter is? Inner/Outter Diameter???

Any Takers?

It's also thinner-walled.

Yea, I was a little drunk. I meant to say that I was gonna get chrome tips, but not if they rust.. my bad.

So If I were to go to a plumbing store and I said get me 3" of Stainless Piping, do I need to know the thickness of the steel? or are they all the same?

You want tubing, not pipe.

Definitely go with angled cut, here's mine.

I think it's 3.5" out

If you think alumized pipe will not rust just leave it out in the rain. It will rust very nicely.

I would go look at a metal scrap yard. sometiems you will find stainless tubing and it cost way less than buying retail. I think exhaust tubing is OD.

so 3 inch od stainless tubing is what what you need.
