Take a look at the sticky's at the top of this thread. That should help you out. With the exception of Borla (high end) and dynomax (low end) most exhausts cost the same and to some extend equally as loud.

Loudest - I'm guessing would be no muffler just straight pipes. Best sounding is totally subjective. Many variables come into play: headers or stock manifolds, cats or no cats, Y-pipe, etc..

Flowmaster 2 chambers make a heck of a lot of noise. Loudest? Maybe.....but they're also very raspy. VERY raspy. Not the best sound, IMO. And I've got two of em. It gets old really quick.
Please...don't do straight pipes. I've heard a lot of 302's and 305's with straight pipes, and nearly all of them sound absolutely obnoxious. Yeah, they're loud alright...but they sound like ***.
Have you looked into Spintechs? They sound GREAT on Ford motors...I imagine they'd sound good behind just about anything. Good flow, super-unique sound. Fairly quiet idle but they get real mean sounding when you get on em. Best part, they have no baffle plates to rattle, vibrate, or make nasty resonances. They're a tad pricey, but worth it in my opinion. When I redo my exhaust, I'll be switching to the Spintech Pro Streets. Might wanna check their website...they make everything for anything.

I would have to agree with Travis on this subject because I have Hooker 2055's 1 5/8", 3" Catco cat, 3" McCord power plate 2, 3 inch Flowmaster 40 at the rear. I can make it really loud when I want or if it’s annoying like long drive I can close it and its still loud but not annoying. On a near stock 305 the cutout sounds like a truck kind of when accelerating slow but when I get on it it sound mean nothing like a truck!
