Removed muffler = NOT LOUD? WTF!!

Ok, so the other day I decided to take off my muffler to run it for a few days until my flowmaster arrives. But when I took it off it wasn't any louder. It wasnt loud at all! Not at any rpm range. I mean it had a little rumble that the stock exhaust had but nothing like i expected. What could be the problem? Could the cat be clogged or something? What could I do to check it or anything? I have a 91 rs 305 tbi with all stock exhaust without a muffler right now. Thanx for the help!

I second that, Take off the cat or punch it out. It isn't hard to punch out, just take it off and hammer a rod or a tire tool or something in there and break all the honeycome stuff.

What about the airhose coming from the cat? What does it do and if i put a straight pipe inside the cat, will the airhose be effected?

That is the AIR hose. Look into smog delete for info on that. It will be useless if you cut your cat. A cat converter actually muffels sound much more effectively than a muffler.
