Can u still run Cats w/out A.I.R.???

Im debating over headers again and wanted to know if you can still run your Cats if you take the A.I.R. off?? Ive heard bad things about Edelbrocks TES system, so Im staying away from it. Im thinking of going with the Hooker 2460's also, but am unsure which header to get. I had in my possession the 2055's, but sold them before they made it to my car. Will it hurt anything on my car to remove the AIR system?(ie make the car lean/rich?) Thanks in advance.....

It can hurt the cats over time. Some have had theirs clog and others haven't. During start up and warm up periods your car will use the AIR system to keep things kosher in the cat (adds air to combine with the extra fuel during start-up). When the car heats up and reaches stochiometic conditions the AIR is not needed. Since every car does not run near stochiometric during startup you can clog your cat over time without AIR.

Ive heard that as well. I want to go with the Hooker 2055 system, but since I have a dual cat car now, Im not sure how it will mount up by the tranny. I can fabricate the AIR to work with a single cat, but then Id have to fab up the Ipipe to work as well. Seems like a lot of trouble. Any other suggestions for headers for my 91 Z? (from summitracing......ahh credit)

If emissions allows in your area I would go with a single 3" cat. You will come out much cheaper in the long run. Then you can go with any header kit you want really.
