HELP! Lots of questions

Hey, just got my engine done a couple of weeks back.. It is now completely broken in, but it seems to be lacking a LOT of power in the low end. When i get up to about 70mph it just flies, but it doesn't have the low end torque that it should. I am using the air cleaner that the car came with (very, very sh!tty 2" cleaner, im sure it has close to no air flow) and the stock sh!tty exhaust beside some cheap-a$$ headers (the $70 specials in jegs - came with the car) And i am also using the carb that came with the car -a 625cfm Carter AFB, which is also a piece of junk (never taken care of by other owners)

I am planning on putting a 14x3" K&N Filter with an Xstream top, a 670cfm Holley Street Avenger Carb, and redoing the exhaust. I am planning on getting Hooker or Headman Longtube headers and either a mandral bent 3" flowmaster exhaust system or copying cobrakiller1989's oval exhaust system https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=242121 save different mufflers.

I have a 355. 11 to 1 pistons with 76cc combustion chambers (something like 9.8 to 1 compression). An Elgin cam that is a copy of the 60's 327/350HP cam. I have a motorsports intake manifold (basically a copy of the Edelbrock performer RPM) and High performance HEI Distributor with Taylor wires and NGK plugs.

Will the changes in the exhaust and air/fuel delivery make a big difference in the powerless feeling that i get in my low end?

Also, some exhaust questions: This is my daily driver so i do need some ground clearance.. with the longtube headers totally kill all clearance or will i only lose a couple of inches?

Also, cobrakiller1989's oval system doesn't have tailpipes.. is there a way i can get a 2.5" over the driver's side axel? could i do some fabrication to the body (aka POUNDING) to get it to fit with no problems while driving? or am i pretty much stuck on having the mufflers dump in front of the axel? and if i have to do that, are there any major problems or hazzards?

Thanx a lot for helping out.. I'm getting about $1600 in 3 weeks and $800 of it is set for exhaust.. tho i am going to see if i can get some used longtube headers and get them ceramic coated.

Sorry for the longer post
