American Thunder
i cant find any info on this, but is the american thunder muffler an 80 series or a 40 series flowmaster? i tried searching but no luck
The muffler that comes with the flowmaster american thunder series catback is an 80 series. I didn't have to look on a website, I have the catback. I am 100% sure on this! There is no such thing as a crossflow 40 series.

For thirdgen Camaro/Firebirds, the Flowmaster American Thunder is FOR SURE an 80 Series Crossflow. I should know, I have one, and its nice and loud, I love it!

Can I chime in as well? It's an 80 series crossflow. I have one on my 95Z28.

probably fine if youre running stock or mildly modded. if you are pushing any kind of horsepower flowmasters are inadequate. they are pretty restrictive compared to other brands of mufflers like hooker, dynomax and magnaflow. i just tore mine off yesterday, didn't like the drone at cruising speed either.

magnaflow sucks, the passenger side outlet sound more agressive then the one on the driver side, my friend has a flowmaster and i like how it sounds, he gots the dual cats, i also got the dual cats but i took them off cause im getting catco and running single cat, will 2 cats vs. 1 cat make the exhaust sound differently?

hey i have Magnaflows and i think they sound great, I dont think dual cats vs 1 will make any big sound diff, But it makes more HP tho

how big are the dual pipes coming out? do they make a 3.5" version or is it just 3" and how are the pipes, straight out or do they slant down stock style as well as how far do they stick out from bumper?

looks good, so they dont slant downwards. BTW for all you 80 series fans the kit #17233 is the one for the 3" system - 3"inlet/dual 3"outlet to 14" (i believe) stainless steel tips which are slash cut and exit straight out the back. If im incorrect on any of this then let me know cuz i myself am still lookin for info

I've also got the American Thunder system on my car. It's got a 3" mandrel bent I-pipe with an 80 series crossflow muffler with 3" inlet and dual 3" outlets with the mandrel bent "tailpipes" with polished stainless tips the same as carlover01. Overall I'm quite happy with the system, and I also love the way the tips look
And I think you're right on with that part number. I've got that system with a 3" Magnaflow high flow cat and it seems pretty decent, not that I'm an exhaust expert lol

wow thats just beautiful. Makes me wanna put next years college tuition aside to redo my entire exhaust. It looks like they stick out just enough past the bumper...which is great. Now to find someone thatll put 3.5" tips on mine...

yea, i have the american thunder cat back with the chrome 3" tips and i def. would not want to go any bigger on the tips. I thought they looked too big when I first put them on... they've grown on me some, but I absolutely would not wanna go bigger.
